EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

The Executive Committee oversees all operations of the agency and acts as the personnel committee.  The committee is made up of commission members only, with the elected officer positions of Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary.

VISUAL ARTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE (VAAC)

The Visual Arts Advisory Committee advises and acts as a resource for the Department on matters pertaining to the visual arts, which includes recommending the works of qualified, local, regional and national artists for public art projects; acts as advocates for the visual arts and artists in the community; broadens the role of visual artists in the community; supports the staff in the implementation of the Percent for Art Ordinance, along with maintenance, enhancement, and expansion of the public art collections and providing public outreach and education of and about the visual arts in the community.

CULTURAL PROGRAMS COMMITTEE

The Cultural Programs Committee began in 2002 as the Events and Performing Arts Committee.  In 2009, with the transition from the Boise City Arts Commission to the City of Boise, Department of Arts & History, the committee's name changed to reflect broader responsibilities.  Committee Members assist the department by fulfilling the following duties:

  • To act as a resource for events and cultural programs;
  • To act as advocates for the performing arts that serve Boise audiences;
  • To ensure a healthy cultural community balanced in variety, discipline, diversity and opportunities;
  • Support ways to increase artistic quality, integrity and collaboration on all levels.

HISTORY COMMITEE
The History Committee is a volunteer standing committee in the Department of Arts & History (A & H) charged to make recommendations regarding history projects, programs, policies, and goals supported and undertaken on behalf of the City.

The Arts and History Commission (AHC) reviews and approves History Committee recommendations.  Boise City Historic Preservation Commission will also be informed of and have input regarding history projects and programs.

TASK FORCES - SELECTION PANELS

Task Forces, Ad Hoc Committees, Selection or Review Panels also meet for a short period of time to complete one task or assignment. They are appointed by the Department of Arts and History Chair or committee chairs as necessary. Includes programs such as:
