Blueprint Boise: The Process
How long will the Blueprint Boise process take?
We anticipate the Blueprint Boise process will take approximately two years to complete. This schedule accounts for significant citizen participation during each process phase, and the need for significant review and feedback on interim components of both the Plan and Code.
By combining the Plan and Code updates into a single process (rather than updating the Plan before the Code), the city substantially reduces the overall time needed and can maximize the efficiency of the public outreach process.
Process Steps
Blueprint Boise will be developed in four phases, as outlined below. Specific tasks within later phases are subject to change as the process unfolds and will be determined during the conclusion of each prior phase.
- Phase I: Learn
Phase I tasks will serve as a foundation for subsequent phases of the process, providing an assessment of baseline conditions for analysis and beginning to define vision for the future.
- Phase II: Explore
Phase II tasks will build on information gathered during Phase I and explore a range of alternative futures—both at a citywide and a Planning Area level.
- Phase III: Aspire
During Phase III the draft Comprehensive Plan will begin to take shape, along with necessary code revisions to implement the plan.
- Phase IV: Act
Phase IV will lay the foundation for the adoption and implementation of the Comprehensive Plan and the Development Code.
