Progress Measures at a Glance

Boise City uses Key Progress Measures to indicate and measure performance of operational and capital facilities objectives. The performance management system is integrated within the budget development and quarterly reporting system.
Departments identify key progress measures (KPMs) for each service unit and for each departmental service groups. The KPMs are proposed in the department and agency budget submissions (see the Department Budgets > Department Overview > Service Group Overview)
City Council approves the department and agency requests making whatever modifications in budgeted revenues, costs or performance objectives or targeted KPMs. The approved budget includes the approved performance objectives and KPMs.
Departments and agencies report quarterly throughout the 2YB period. Quarterly reports include quantitative data for KPMs. At year end, the final KPM data is transmitted.
City Council reviews quarterly reports and provides direction and feedback to departments and agencies.

Progress Measures
Departments and agencies collect a variety of performance data in addition to the KPMs. Key measures are selected to indicate trends and to reflect the significant department accountabilities. The KPM data transmitted to the City Council is summarized to reflect the few measures most indicative of departmental and agency operations.
Progress on each capital project is reported in each quarterly report.
