Frequently Asked Questions

About the Curb It Program

Q. What is Curb It?
A. Curb It is the City of Boise's new automated trash and no-sort curbside recycling program.  The program's mission is to curb waste by promoting the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Q. What are the reasons for the new program?
A. Automated collection and no-sort recycling were recommendations made last year as part of the City's Solid Waste STrategic Plan, formulated by a citizen committee assembled by Mayor Bieter.  The City is committed to keeping collection rates low over the long-term -- moving to an automated collection system helps accomplish this goal by reducing worker injury, turnover, and labor costs.  THe Curb It program is also a key element of the Mayor's vision for a greener and more sustainable Boise.  With the introduction of no-sort recycling, we can all do our part to divert recyclables from the landfill and curb waste.  In other cities that have offered no-sort recycling, the volumes of recyclable materials have increased by 40% on average.

Q. Will I receive more information about how to use my new trash and recycling carts?
A. Yes, a Curb It Handbook and other materials will be delivered with your new cart(s).  ALso, if you have questions, please bookmark the Curb It website and refer to it as needed or call Allied Waste at (208) 345-1266.  For billing related questions, please call (208) 384-3735.

Q. is my trash and recycling service still unlimited?

Q. May I use my old trash can after the new program rolls out?
