General Recycling Guidelines
Recycling is included in residential solid waste service for the City of Boise. Every household that signs up for service is provided with a blue recycling cart. Non-recyclers pay $4 more per month than recyclers.
Recycling Carts
- No sorting, just toss it in your cart
- All items to be recycled should be placed inside your cart, with the exception of used motor oil, large items, and Christmas trees. View the recycling list for information on what can be recycled in your cart and how to recycle other items.
Weight Limits
Your cart cannot be picked up if it is over the weight limit listed below. If your cart is left at the curb because it is over the weight limit, you will receive a notice on the cart.
- 95-gallon cart: 335 lbs.
- 65-gallon cart: 200 lbs.
- 48-gallon cart: 168 lbs.
Placement
- Set carts out by 7:00 am, remove from the street within 24 hours
- Place wheeled cart against the curb, or along the alley with the handle pointing towards your residence
- Do not block the sidewalk with carts
- Keep carts at least three feet away from other carts, mailboxes, fire hydrants, low hanging trees or shrubs, parked cars, or utility poles so trucks can easily access the cart
