BOISE, IDAHO ( June 8, 2005 ): Today, passengers traveling through Boise Airport have another time management tool available at their fingertips. MPC Computers, through a corporate sponsorship program, and Boise Airport introduce complementary high-speed broadband wireless internet service (Wi-Fi) throughout the terminal building.
" Boise is already fortunate to have one of the most modern and user-friendly airports of any size in the nation," says Boise Mayor David Bieter. Today we take another leap forward with our new Wi-Fi system, which will mean the end of airport downtime for business travelers and anyone else who wants to take advantage of secure, free wireless internet access."
The new Wi-Fi service, powered by ICOA Inc.s Airport Network Solutions, is a free service that truly supports the corporate traveler. Not only is this service above and beyond the typical Wi-Fi, the MPC Computers corporate sponsorship is the first of its kind as well.
"For this great service, we can thank the airport's fantastic technology staff and especially MPC Computers, a great corporate citizen of Boise that has stepped forward as the sponsor of this ambitious project," adds Mayor Bieter
MPC Computers joined Boise Airport in this venture through a corporate sponsorship program coordinated through airport advertising concessionaire, the Elizabeth Younger Agency. In conjunction with their name and brand identity included in promoting the Wi-Fi service, MPC Computers will be the sponsor of Boise Airports two business centers, located on the second floor of the terminal outside the ticket lobby and on Concourse C
Passengers and visitors with Wi-Fi enabled laptops or PDAs can connect to the internet to check their e-mail, access corporate servers, download important documents and surf the web, at no charge, with unlimited access from anywhere in the airport. The new public wireless internet service is available throughout the entire terminal and does not require users to install or use proprietary software.
"We are pleased to provide complimentary high-speed internet for our passengers and visitors" said John Anderson, Airport Director. "Working with MPC Computers and ICOA Inc.s Airport Network Solutions has made this service possible. It is a further commitment to provide outstanding customer service and business-class amenities, which improve productivity, reduce costs and enhance our passengers travel experience."
The Wi-Fi service offers enterprise-class wireless internet that works with any Wi-Fi laptop or PDA; T1 performance throughout the airport for a high-capacity of users; and 24 x 7 tech support hotline service via a toll-free telephone number. Other features include: fully managed back-office; access and authentication enhanced security capabilities support VPNs; VLANs for private side users.
"These are features typically only seen in for-pay networks, not always even there." says Pamela Brown, Vice President, Airport Development Airport Network Solutions. "Two things made this possible: the airport's investment in its technology infrastructure and staffing; and the partnership with MPC Computers."
"Other free-service Wi-Fi networks use advertisements to pay for the service. With our service, no one is looking to sell them cell phones or car insurance via the internet," adds Anderson .
