Three city council members will take oath of office at January 5 ceremony
The Boise City Council will swear in its newest member as well as two returning council members during an oath of office ceremony and reception next Tuesday, Jan. 5.
The event, part of the council’s regular weekly meeting, will begin at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers on the third floor of City Hall. The public is welcome. The proceedings will be aired live on GET 98 (CableOne channel 98) and streamed on the City of Boise’s Web site (www.cityofboise.org).
TJ Thomson was elected in November to Council Seat 4, currently held by Jim Tibbs, who did not seek re-election. Mayor David H. Bieter, who is recovering from knee-replacement surgery, is scheduled to return to City Hall to administer the oath of office to Thomson as well as to Maryanne Jordan, who was re-elected to Council Seat 6.
Ada County Clerk Dave Navarro will administer the oath of office to Vern Bisterfeldt, re-elected to Council Seat 2. Navarro has performed the duty at each of Bisterfeldt’s swearing-in ceremonies since Bisterfeldt’s days as a county commissioner.
All three of the council members were elected to four-year terms.
The ceremony will also include a farewell to Councilman Tibbs, and council members will elect a president and council pro tem for the coming year. After brief routine business, the meeting will adjourn to an informal reception in the Council Chambers.
