Responsible Person Training
- The City of Boise requires each permitted construction site to have an individual in charge of the erosion and sediment control program. They must have day to day control over construction site activities and be trained and certified by Boise City.
- The training program covers introduction and requirements, regulatory background and construction site best management practices.
- Individuals attending this course acquire the basic knowledge necessary to implement the construction site erosion and sediment control requirements or plans. Completion of this class and passing a written examination (open book) provides attendees with certification valid for three years.
- Responsible Person Application
Plan Designer Training
- Developers, builders and contractors involved in subdivision development, multi-family housing, all commercial development, and in some instances foothills construction, must submit an erosion and sediment control plan to the City for review and approval or modification. Plans must be prepared and signed by an individual trained and certified by Boise City.
- The training program covers: Introduction, Regulatory background, ESC Plans, Best Management Practices
- Individuals attending this course acquire the basic knowledge necessary to prepare the erosion and sediment control plan. Attending this course does not guarantee certification. Because this is a basic level course designed only to provide the City's requirements, attendees must provide a resume detailing their experience in erosion and sediment control. Boise City evaluates the qualifications provided and the written examination (open book) results at the end of the class, to determine if certification will be issued.
- Plan Designer Application
Interim Certification & Training
- Individuals involved in building or development where earth disturbing activities occur are required to attend a 4-hour certification program for either Construction Site Responsible Person (RP) or Plan Designer (PD). In most cases, you cannot do construction in Boise City Limits unless you have a RP in your organization with direct, day-to-day control over construction activities.
- If you need immediate certification in order to obtain a City Permit, an interim certification for either Responsible Person or Plan Designer is available. This interim certification is valid for 6-months and will not be renewed.
- During the interim certification period, the individual certified as an interim RP or PD must attend one of the scheduled classes. RP classes are usually scheduled once per month and PD classes once every 2 months. Contact Boise State University at 426-1974 or American Geotechnics at 658-8700 for additional registration and class location information.
