City Seeks Artists for Public Projects
Three artists will be selected based on artistic quality of past work, appropriateness of work for public art projects, experience and professionalism as well as communication skills.
Selected artists will enter into a general contract with the City for one year with the possibility of two additional one-year renewals. Each project will be negotiated separately for scope of services, fees and timelines.
Boise City Arts Commission (BCAC) staff members will explain the program at a one-hour workshop at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 23 in the City Hall White Pine Conference Room.
Applications must include a one-page cover letter, resume, 10 slides of previous work and a self-addressed stamped envelope. Other print material, press clippings or brochures are optional. The deadline is 4 p.m. Feb. 5, 2007 at the Boise City Arts Commission office, first floor, City Hall, 150 S. Capitol Blvd.
The Boise City Council allocates general funds for art as part of capital development or improvement projects. Each art project is developed with site-specific considerations such as location, history, neighborhood audience and relationship to the environment. Current project budgets range from $1,000 to $20,000 per project.
A selection panel will make recommendations, which must be approved by the Board of Park & Recreation Commission and the BCAC before being submitted to the Boise City Council.
Applications are available by clicking on Artists Opportunities at www.cityofboise.org/arts_commission or calling 433-5670.
