New gazebo installed at Platt Gardens
A new gazebo built in honor of a long-time Boise resident has been completed at Platt Gardens, 1025 S. Capitol Blvd.
The children of Michelle Marie Aitchison donated $8,000 to the project in honor of their late mother. A sandstone bench with a brass plaque commemorates the donation.
The new structure is a Litchfield prefabricated six-sided gazebo with a cupola and a green metal roof. Cost is $18,500 for equipment and installation.
A popular site for picnics and small gatherings, the gazebo is located in the park adjacent to the Boise Depot. The five-acre park, which is maintained by Boise Parks & Recreation, also features winding walkways, benches, koi ponds and a monument of volcanic rock. The park was built in 1927 by Union Pacific Railroad.
