Crews working on Greenbelt near ParkCenter Blvd.
A construction project is under way to widen and improve the surface of the Greenbelt on the south side of the Boise River from the Albertson’s/SuperValu offices on ParkCenter Boulevard to the Cottonwood Apartments. Crews are also working on a pathway spur across the river from the Baybrook Bridge to the northwest corner of Warm Springs Golf Course.
For the initial phase, workers installed barricades, signs and erosion and sediment control devices. They also cut roots on both sides of the path.
A pulverizer was used to break up the existing pathway and prepare the site for installation of the wider 12-foot asphalt surface. The $312,000 project is expected to be complete by late September.
Diamond Contractors is the contractor.
The Greenbelt on the north side of the river will remain open during construction. ParkCenter Boulevard is also an alternative route for path users.
The Boise River Greenbelt is a 22.5-mile pathway that runs along the Boise River through the heart of the city. Boise Parks & Recreation, which is responsible for maintaining the popular site, allocates funds annually for repairs and improvements.
