Our winner of the poster dog contest, Jeb, a blue tick hound proudly resides with Paula McCollum of Boise.
Jeb is a well rounded dog; when he's not walking the Hull's Gulch off-leash trails, he is spending his time as a search & rescue dog or as a reserve deputy.

Finalists:
The response from the community was great. A total of 90 entries were made wanting to become the new Spokesdog. As difficult as it was the field was narrowed to six. The 5 additional finalists were: Abbey, Ivy, Louise, Morgan, and Scout.
Contest:
In order to qualify for the COLT contest the dogs had to be licensed, friendly, well trained, and embarrassed if you don't pick up after them. All applicants were asked to fill out an entry form and submit a photo. We then interviewed all eligible contestants and amazingly narrowed the field to 6 finalists who competed during the Hyde Park Street Fair to determine the Spokesdog winner.
We would like all dog owners to take pride in their pets and check out the dog park and off-leash trails.
Recognizing that DOLAs need to be operated in a clean and orderly manner, the task force developed a set of minimum requirements, as well as, rules and regulations for all approved sites. It is the task force's belief that self-enforcement efforts by DOLA users are the key to successful operation of these facilities. However, the task force has recently been using a combination of self-enforcement and coordination with the Idaho Humane Society to enforce the existing laws in problem areas throughout the city.
The full proposal for DOLAs, minimum requirements, & rules and regulations from the Dog Off-Leash Area Task Force was taken to the Board in April of 2001 and approved.
Additional efforts have been approved for dog training areas and trails and open space.
