Hundreds of volunteers pitched in to build a new playground for Kroeger Park on Aug. 8, 2009. The project was a partnership between Boise Parks & Recreation, KaBOOM! and Albertsons/Sav-on Pharmacy.
The new playspace features a slide, swings, climbing structure and comfortable seating for parents.
KaBOOM! is national organization seeking to provide great places to play within walking distance of every child in America.
Among the people working on the project were volunteers from Albertsons/Sav-on Pharmacy, the Southeast Neighborhood Association, and others from the Kroeger Park area and surrounding community.
Kroeger Park is a half-acre mini park located in a residential area off Broadway in Southeast Boise. The park features shady trees and picnic tables.
Land for the park was donated to the City of Boise in August 1913 by local residents Theodore and Pauline Kroeger. The Kroegers said they donated the property in order to "better beautify the neighborhood in which we live and to promote its growth and development."
