New playground completed at Fairmont Park
Ready, set, play! Kids in West Boise will enjoy a big, new playground installed at Fairmont Park, 7925 W. Northview St.
The new Kompan equipment includes traditional swings and slides plus innovative climbing and spinning equipment. The $200,000 project was being funded by the City of Boise.
"Boise playgrounds are uniquely designed for each site with the goal of providing a quality recreational experience for children close to home," said Wendy Larimore of Boise Parks & Recreation. “Playgrounds encourage kids to engage in active play and enhance fitness while combating obesity.”
The 7-acre neighborhood park is located west of Morley Nelson Elementary School and Community Center. The park features tennis courts, softball diamonds, a soccer field, a picnic area and a municipal pool.

Warm Springs Golf Course Maintenance Facility
After the city acquired Warm Springs Golf Course in 1996, a master plan was developed with input from golfers, neighbors and others. Some of the priorities identified include rerouting some holes, enlarging the lake, and upgrading the golf course maintenance facility.
The current maintenance building is a basic shelter with no running water, which poses a health hazard for employees dealing with pesticides and other materials.
In summer 2009, the City of Boise started construction on a multi-phase project to build a new maintenance building. Phase I, which was completed in early summer, included building up the base of the structure and elevating the yard above the flood plain. Material for the base was extracted from the golf course pond. The cost of phase I was $37,000.
Phase II covers installation of utilities. The estimated cost of phase II is $120,000.
Phase III, which is expected to be complete in October 2009, will be construction of the building itself at a cost of $520,000.
Upon completion of the maintenance building, managers will focus on a new clubhouse.
Funds are provided by user fees. No taxpayer dollars are used to fund projects at the golf course.

Tennis courts completed at Williams, Quarry View parks
Construction began in mid-June on a complete overhaul of tennis courts at Williams and Quarry View parks. The renovation included the installation of post-tension concrete overlay surfaces, a technologically advanced process that will extend the lifespan of the courts.
Williams Park is an 8-acre neighborhood park in Southeast Boise. Located at 300 W. Williams St. off Londoner Way, Williams Park features four tennis courts, a playground, softball area and open space.
Quarry View is located in East Boise at 2150 E. Penitentiary Road. The 11-acre park features two tennis courts, a basketball court, playground, open space and a reservable shelter and restroom.

Construction project completed in West Boise's DeMeyer Park
A construction project to install 450-feet of concrete in DeMeyer Park has completed a popular bike path in a West Boise neighborhood. The 6-foot-wide concrete path runs west from the playground to Lena Ave.
The West Valley Neighborhood Association received a $37,000 Neighborhood Reinvestment Grant for the project. Funding was approved by Mayor David Bieter and the City Council.
Completion of the pathway will help reduce vehicle traffic in the area and assist neighbors who want to ride their bicycles to work.
