Review/Evaulation Process

Applications are accepted year ‘round. Applications received by July 31 are reviewed and evaluated in August. Award winners are notified in September and honored in October. Download Application (Word)

Applications are reviewed by an independent committee. Members include business leaders, knowledgeable city staff, and past award recipients.

Applications are evaluated based on the following criteria (including but not limited to):
Compliance with environmental regulations;
Integrated approach to pollution prevention;
Unique project or innovative technology;
Efficient use of raw materials;
Participation and support by management and employees;
Benefits to the business/facility, client or customers;
Continuous process improvement;
Green business role model;
Successful on-site visit.

Award selection is a competitive process. Award finalists agree to an on-site inspection by committee members and/or city staff.
