Climate Protection Program Advisory Committee
Between January 2007 and June 2008, the Boise Climate Protection Program Advisory Committee (Advisory Committee) met bi-monthly to address climate protection issues and consider strategies for City facilities and the community. The Committee members included representatives from business, educational institutions, government, and environmental groups. The following is a list of current committee members:

- Dr. John Gardner, Boise State University
- David Gibney, HDR Architects
- Dr. Alan Hausrath, Sierra Club
- Dr. Don Reading, Ben Johnson Associates
- Sue Seifert, Idaho Office of Energy Resources
The Advisory Committee re-convened in 2010 to continue advising the city of Boise on new programs and initiatives. The group will meet every quarter to review and provide input on new information on Boise's energy efficiency and CO2 initiatives.The public is invited to the meetings to provide additional perspectives.
Advisory Committee Mission
The mission of the committee is to promote an awareness of climate change and reduce greenhouse gases emissions for the community. The city of Boise Advisory Committee assists by
- Serving as a sounding board for carbon reduction strategies
- Serving as the line of communication between the City and citizens
- Recommending guidelines for performance standards
- Providing input to the update of the City’s Comprehensive Plan
- Serving as an advocate for policy changes
Together, the Advisory Committee provides guidance to policy makers on how to raise awareness of climate change and how to showcase Boise as a leader in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
