Business Recycling Program
Boise City offers a commercial recycling program to all businesses, non-profit organizations, churches, schools, and multi-family complexes (apartments, condominiums). Boise City has designed the program to be tailored to a business's needs.
The program offers three collection service options:
- Blue Bins
- best for small businesses or those who don't have much to recycle; can be used to collect more than one type of recyclable material.
- Wheeled Carts
- best for businesses that wish to recycle a large quantity of one type of material.
- Green Dumpsters
- best for large businesses that have a large quantity of waste paper and corrugated cardboard; can be used in conjunction with wheeled carts.
Boise City will meet with interested commercial businesses to develop a specific recycling program. However, before a recycling program can be developed, the company needs to consider a few items:
- Do you have a practical location where recyclable materials can be collected? Breakrooms, kitchens, or other large rooms may provide enough space to locate a recycling center.
- Is there a site available outside the building whereby Allied Waste collection trucks can easily pick up the bins, carts, or dumpsters?
- Do you know what type and how many materials you would like to recycle?
- Is everyone in the business committed to a recycling program? A successful recycling program relies on committed company management, facility staff, and employees.

SERVICE OPTIONS
Businesses that do not have a lot of recyclable materials can use a blue bin. Similar to the residential recycling program, Allied Waste provides containers and collects recyclable materials once a week. Separate materials before placing in the bin. Cardboard needs to be flattened and placed next to blue bins. Please do not force cardboard into the bins. It makes it difficult for Allied Waste to remove cardboard quickly and efficiently if large pieces of cardboard are stuck inside the bin.
Wheeled carts are a good option for businesses that want to recycle a large quantity of a single material. Unlike the blue bin service, wheeled carts can only be used to recycle one type of material at a time. Businesses can have up to five carts, depending on their recycling needs. If collection space is limited, then businesses should consider using one cart and rotating the type of recyclable material they collect each week. The bins can be collected at daily, weekly or monthly intervals, depending on the company's needs. Cardboard needs to be flattened and placed next to carts. Please do not force cardboard into the wheeled carts. It makes it difficult for Allied Waste to remove cardboard quickly and efficiently if large pieces of cardboard are stuck inside the cart.
These containers are best suited for large companies that want to recycle mixed paper and corrugated cardboard (no aluminum or plastic). The green dumpsters can be used in conjunction with wheeled carts if the company would also like to recycle aluminum and/or plastic.
