Residential Recycling
Recycling is an important part of residential solid waste service in Boise. Each household signed up for recycling is provided one blue recycling bin. If there is not a bin at your new address, contact Allied Waste at 345-1266. The blue bin is the property of Allied Waste. If you move to a different location, do not take the bin with you.
Service Sign Up or Billing Inquiry
Boise City Utility Billing sends out bills to Boise City residents for garbage and recycling collection services. Call Boise City Utility Billing at 384-3735 to set up service, sign up for discounts or inquire about your bill.
Discounts are available for low-income households and residents that qualify under the Americans With Disabilities Act. Qualifying ADA customers may receive carry-out service at the regular monthly rate.
Recycling Collection
Recycling is collected weekly Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. on the same day as your trash. Place your blue bin at the curb or in the alley a few feet from your garbage containers before 7:00 a.m. to ensure collection. Bins set out after 7:00 a.m. may be missed.
Recycling is not collected on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving or Christmas. During these holiday weeks, collection is delayed one day. Your collection day varies depending on your neighborhood. If you are unsure when your collection day is, see the collection day map.
Sorting Materials in Your Bin
Refer to our Frequently Asked Questions page for information on how to sort and recycle your materials.
Multi-Family Recycling
The blue bin recycling program is also available to apartments, condominiums and other multi-family residences. Participation is voluntary and at the discretion of the complex manager or owner, who will be billed on the complex's monthly trash bill. Call Allied Waste at 208-345-1266 to sign up for the program.
As a Boise resident, you may drop off your unwanted hazardous materials (paint, fertilizer, household cleaners, etc.) at any of the city's mobile collection sites. You can also visit the Ada County Hidden Hollow Landfill facility to drop off your materials and pick up some usable products free of charge. You can pick up cleaning supplies, paints, wood finishes, fertilizers, lawn care products and other useful items that others have turned in to the facility.
