Department Description
The Boise Police Department's six year Business Plan reflects a continued commitment to ensuring the safety of the community by providing proactive police services. The Department's specific focus is on improving the livability of the citizens of Boise by: recruiting and training highly qualified individuals that believe in Boise's way of life; continuing to grow the Department with geo-based policing; Neighborhood Response Teams; staffing; and facilities located in areas that best fit the needs of the community. The Police Department is committed to developing integrated solutions to address issues that affect the citizens of Boise.

The mission of the Boise Police Department is to enhance public safety through proactive problem solving and increased community partnerships.

  • Increase cooperation with local Law Enforcement agencies to combat the growing gang and narcotic issues
  • Impact fees to help with the capital improvement projects

Threats

  • Increase in calls for service
  • Annexation without consideration for department growth
  • Gang violence from surrounding communities spilling over into Boise
  • Domestic terrorism
  • Reductions in Federal grants
