On December 7, 2023, at 5:30 pm Boise Fire responded to a fire at Walmart on the 8300 block of W. Overland Rd. First arriving crews found the store filled with heavy smoke and active fire in the back corner of the building. Due to working smoke detectors, employees and customers were already evacuating as crews arrived. Fire crews coordinated an offensive fire attack, extinguishing the fire, while also confirming there were no victims inside of the building. Fire damage was contained to the area of origin, but the rest of the store sustained significant smoke and water damage.
There were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time. Firefighters remained on scene for a few hours working to remove smoke from the structure.
