Dogs, Trails and Open Space
Enjoying the foothills with a dog has become a popular activity. In a trail survey conducted in June, 2000, approximately 28% of visitors (318 people) brought along their dog. Assuming some people brought more than one dog, there could have been as many dogs as mountain bikers enjoying the trails on that particular Saturday. Along with this increase is a growing concern about the affects that dogs off leash may have on the environment and how dogs interact with other visitors.
