Ridge to Rivers opens
Rock Island Trail for Freeriders

new trail for "freeride" mountain bikers
has been opened on a mesa below Table
Rock. The Rock Island Trail #16B was
built at the request of freeriders
seeking more technical challenges, said
David Gordon, Ridge to Rivers
coordinator. The .81-mile is located
between the Rock Garden Trail and the
Table Rock Loop. Volunteers from
the Southwest Idaho Mountain Biking
Association (SWIMBA) spent two Sundays
building small ramps on numerous rock
formations. The ramps allow riders to
ascend more easily. SWIMBA also
purchased signs for the trail.
