America 250: Join in the Celebration

Marking a once-in-a-generation milestone, together.

In 2026, our nation marks a once-in-a-generation milestone: the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. Across the country, communities will pause to reflect on our shared history, celebrate the people and places that shape our lives today, and envision the future we hope to create together.

The City of Boise is proud to participate in a citywide celebration that invites every resident to take part. Through arts and culture, storytelling, exhibitions, civic events, history-themed gathering, and July 4th celebrations, we will mark the anniversary in ways that honor the past and look ahead to the next 250 years. Guided by the themes presented in the American Association for State and Local History’s 250th Anniversary Program Field GuideUnfinished Revolutions, Power of Place, We the People, American Experiment, and Doing History — our commemoration reflects what makes Boise unique: a community grounded in history, strengthened by diverse voices, and committed to building a thriving future for generations to come.

From art and history exhibitions and student showcases to community events and guided and audio tours, together we’ll explore the people and places that have shaped our city and ways to participate in and contribute to the ongoing American experiment.
