Jimmy Hallyburton

Born and raised in NW Boise, Jimmy spent his youth riding on the Greenbelt, exploring the Foothills, and enjoying all that Boise had to offer. After fighting wildfires on the Idaho City Hotshots and attending BSU, he created a nonprofit called the Boise Bicycle Project (BBP). As BBP's 16-year Executive Director, he worked with 1000s of volunteers, nonprofits, schools, community centers, and community members to ensure everyone had access to bicycles and safe places to ride.

Jimmy was elected to City Council in an at-large seat in 2019 and reelected as representative of District 6 in 2023. With deep collaboration, community involvement, and creativity, he spent his first two terms focused on housing, transportation, and public safety issues, as well as access to parks and open space.

Jimmy led Boise's Pathways Master Plan, setting in motion 112 miles of off-street walking and biking pathways across every neighborhood. He created the Traffic Fatality Review Task Force to make our neighborhood streets safer. He helped bring long-awaited Fire Station 13 to NW Boise and has advocated for mental health support for first responders. He's created 100s of affordable housing units for Boise families through the housing land trust and passed legislation supporting renters' rights. He passed the landmark Climate Action Roadmap and is currently leading the Boise Youth Roadmap initiative to ensure Boise is a place where youth can grow, thrive, and positively impact their community.

Jimmy believes positive change happens when the community comes together, across differences, to address our biggest challenges.
