Lisa E. Sánchez

Council District 6

Bio submitted by candidate -

For Lisa Sánchez, “Bringing Everyone to the Table” isn’t a slogan — it’s the way she leads. At Boise State University, she broke barriers as the first Afro-Latina elected student body vice president and president, creating space for more voices to be heard.

For 35 years, Lisa kept setting more places at the table. She accessed free legal services for survivors of domestic violence as a bilingual paralegal, fought discrimination as a civil-rights investigator with the Idaho Human Rights Commission, and strengthened the Girl Scouts of Silver Sage through diversity outreach and fundraising. Through her firm, Palote Power Consulting, she’s become a sought-after speaker known for candid stories of resilience and inclusion.

In 2017 Lisa brought that spirit to City Hall, running a grassroots campaign for Boise City Council and winning by 18 points. Her colleagues unanimously chose her as President Pro Tem in 2021 — the first woman of color in council leadership — because she listens, collaborates and delivers. In 2021, her district re-elected her with 57% of votes being cast for Lisa.

As the only renter on the council, Lisa effectively protected her fellow renters, launched Boise’s first citywide diversity and equity strategy, co-chaired the 2020 Census outreach that justified millions of federal dollars be directed to Boise, Idaho, and championed Mariposa Park — the city’s first park with a Spanish name.

Lisa is running for District 6 to continue bringing everyone to the table — so every neighbor feels heard, valued and part of Boise’s future.
