Sponsorship Guidelines for Community Events
Thank you for your interest in a City of Boise sponsorship. We value the important work that nonprofit organizations do to strengthen our community and enhance quality of life for Boise residents. To ensure that city resources have the greatest possible public benefit, the city prioritizes sponsorships for events and programs organized by nonprofits that are broadly accessible, inclusive, and free to attend.
Sponsorship Priorities
The City of Boise will prioritize sponsorship requests that meet the following criteria:
- Nonprofit Led: Events must be organized by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, public agency, or community-based organization.
- Free and Open to the Public: Events must be free to attend, with no admission fee or required ticket purchase, ensuring equitable access for all community members.
- Local Impact: Preference is given to events that take place within Boise city limits and highlight local culture, businesses, or community organizations.
- Community-Wide Benefit: Events should serve a broad and diverse audience and demonstrate clear benefit to Boise residents, neighborhoods, or communities.
- Alignment with City Goals: Programs should align with city priorities such as community engagement, cultural enrichment, environmental sustainability, public health, economic vitality, and a welcoming city.
- Inclusivity and Accessibility: Events should actively promote inclusion and be accessible to individuals of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
Ineligible or Lower Priority Requests
While we recognize the value of many types of fundraising events, the city generally does not provide sponsorship funding for:
- Ticketed galas, fundraisers, or events requiring paid admission.
- Events primarily designed to benefit a single organization rather than the broader public.
- Private or invitation-only events.
- Activities that limit general community participation.
Alternative Ways to Partner
Organizations hosting ticketed or fundraising events are encouraged to explore other partnership opportunities with the city, such as:
- Collaboration on future free or community-focused programming.
- City staff participation – Please email to Community Engagement, to invite the Mayor or other city leaders to attend your event.
We appreciate your understanding and your continued efforts to serve the Boise community. Organizations are encouraged to contact the city early in their planning process to discuss potential alignment with these guidelines.
