Non-Consent Tow Company

A Non-Consent Tow Company license is required for all companies that tow or otherwise remove vehicles from public or private property without the consent of the vehicle owner or operator. Drivers must also have a business driver license. 

This license requires a background check and fingerprinting which must be conducted in-person at Boise City Hall. This must be completed or your application will not be processed. Once you have completed your application, please schedule your background check and fingerprinting appointment using the link below.

New Application

The City of Boise now allows you to apply for your license online. First time users of this system will be required to set up an account.

Before applying, please have the following ready: 

  • Proof of a comprehensive liability insurance policy that names the City of Boise as an additional insured, in the amount of no less than $1,000,000.00.
  • Tow Truck information that includes: license number, VIN, class of truck and copies of the vehicle registration.
  • Vehicle safety inspection for each truck.
  • Tow Operator information that includes: Full name, date of birth, Idaho driver's license number, date of hire and their individual non-consent tow driver license number issued by the City of Boise.

Once you've logged in, click "Apply > License" in the top menu. Select "Non-Consent Tow Company Application in the menu.

Note: your application is incomplete until you have completed a background check and fingerprinting, which is conducted in person at City Hall.

License Renewal

The City of Boise now allows you to renew your license online. First time users of this system will be required to set up an account.

Once you've set up your account, your current license will need to be linked to your online account by contacting the City Clerk's Office. Please have your current license number available.

Before renewing your license online, please have the following ready:

  • Proof of a comprehensive liability insurance policy that names the City of Boise as an additional insured, in the amount of no less than $1,000,000.00.
  • Tow Truck information that includes: license number, VIN, class of truck and copies of the vehicle registration.
  • Vehicle safety inspection for each truck. (Download Annual Tow Truck Inspection Report)
  • Tow Operator information that includes: Full name, date of birth, Idaho driver's license number, date of hire and their individual non-consent tow driver license number issued by the City of Boise.

Once you've logged in, select "My Records" from the home menu. You will find your renewal in your Licenses list.
