Animal Compliance


As per City Code, dog owners must follow the following laws when visiting Boise City Parks with their dogs:

  • Dogs are required to be licensed.
  • Dogs may not harass humans or other animals.
  • Dogs must be on a leash unless in an area otherwise indicated.
  • Owners are required to remove fecal matter deposited by their pets.

Park users in violation of any of the above ordinances or any other rules outlined by City Code, may be cited, fined and / or asked to leave.

Dog Off-Leash Rules and Regulations

Boise City Parks have specific off-leash areas where dogs are permitted to be off-leash. There is also an off-leash season permitted in other parks from November - February.

Visitors to dog off-leash parks and areas should be aware of the following:

  • Your dog must have a visible and current license.
  • If your dog is aggressive toward people and / or other animals, they are not welcome.
  • Owners are legally responsible for their dogs' behavior and any injuries or damages they may cause.
  • When entering the dog off-leash areas, you agree to abide by all park rules.
  • Never leave the off-leash area without your dog(s), leave them unattended or allow them out of sight.
  • Please remove any and all of your dogs' waste and place in bins provided.
  • Always carry a leash and leash your dog(s) when entering and leaving the park.
