Emergency Preparedness

The Office of Emergency Preparedness seeks to ensure the safety and long-term quality of life in Boise and Southwest Idaho by creating and maintaining a strong emergency management and hometown security program to prepare for threats and hazards identified through regional community planning.

The Boise Fire Department Office of Emergency Preparedness has several goals:

• Emergency Operations Plans (EOP)
• creating and organizing emergency training for city staff that will improve emergency response and city resiliency
• managing emergency grant opportunities with a focus on preparedness, prevention and mitigation

Additionally, staff also coordinate large planned events, like Road to X Games, or unplanned incidents in Boise.

Neighborhood Emergency Planning and Exercise Program

Many Boise neighborhoods face risks, from wildfires to severe weather, that may require quick action or even evacuation. This program provides a structured, community-driven process to:

• Help neighborhoods understand local hazards
• Develop an emergency plan
• Strengthen communication networks
• Practice response actions alongside first responders

How to Apply

Download the fillable PDF, complete, and submit to OEP via email. Applications are accepted year-round, with selection of one program for the full exercise program taking place early each calendar year. Support of other requests may be available based on staff and resource availability. Neighborhoods that aren't selected will stay in contention for future opportunities as long as they are interested. If you have any questions, email us at oep@cityofboise.org.
