Carbon Dioxide Systems Used in Beverage Dispensing Applications

Applies to the installation of or modification to gas detection systems.

Application Materials

Before applying for this permit, please have the following materials ready:

Prevention Plan Drawings

Prevention plan drawings (site plan) showing location of gas detection system, location of exits in the area of tank, location of emergency alarm and monitor locations (if installed), location of exhaust (if installed), location of remote fill, location of dispensers, location of piping and location of signage.


You must also submit the manufacturer product sheets for system components and, if mechanical ventilation is provided, provide supporting documentation for ventilation systems meeting the requirements of the International Mechanical Code and section 5307.3.1 of the 2018 IFC.


  1. Log in to our online permitting and licensing system. If you are a first time user of this system, you will need to create an account.
  2. After logging in, click "Apply" and select "Fire Permit" from the top menu bar.
  • Review and accept the online disclaimer and complete the application.
  • In your application you will have the opportunity to request an inspection date and time. Please note that the Fire Department will contact you directly to confirm your inspection time.
