Station History

1979 - With westward expansion on the Boise Bench, Cole-Collister / North Ada County Fire Rescue (NACFR) builds station #2 at 10895 Emerald Street. As Boise City grew and annexed the bench area into the city limits, the Boise Fire Department purchased the station and it is now known as Station #11. This purchase allowed for the relocation of NACFR Station #2 to this Chinden location.

1996 - The new county station #2 is built on Chinden. This station houses one engine company and wildland unit.

December 31, 2009 - Boise Fire Department and NACFR signed a Joint Powers Agreement, operationally and functionally becoming one. The station is renumbered Station #18.

October 1, 2010 - Station #18 is closed because of reduced revenue within the North Ada County Fire District (NACFR). The newer of NACFR stations, this station is chosen for closure because of district overlap with surrounding Boise firehouses.

2013 - Station is currently being utilized for Recruit Academy Training.
