The Boise Fire Department’s offer of employment is contingent upon passing a Physical Fitness Test which will consist of a 1.5 mile run in less than 11 minutes 30 seconds.
Strength and fitness preparation is a crucial step in the successful completion of the physical demands of the Boise Fire Academy. Individuals should engage in advanced physical training targeting muscle groups used in lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying and other actions related to firefighter tasks. A workout program may include distance running, sprints, rowing, stair climbing with weight pack and weight-lifting to develop both the upper and lower body.
