Message from the Mayor: Thankfulness

As the holidays approach, my heart is full of pride for the city we call home. Boiseans have plenty to be thankful for.

Across the country, Boise is seen as one of the most successful cities in the country. Simple fortune placed us in an environment most of the world would envy and we continue to set extraordinary goals to protect it for future generations. We are one of the safest cities in the nation as well with crime rates at a 25-year low – Boise is growing and thriving, but crime is not. To top it all off, our economy remains strong even as we work to diversify it with good-paying jobs and robust investment.

For me, however, the real secret ingredient in our continued success is how kind and welcoming Boiseans are and how much we care about our community. And through our Boise Kind initiative, we will continue to protect and promote that small town value where neighbors care about neighbors, and everyone feels welcome. It’s the characteristic I’m most proud of.

Of course, with the holidays approaching, many in our community will need a helping hand. Thankfully, we have many dedicated partners across the city who do impactful and meaningful work – but they need our support too. You and your family and friends can do a lot for those served by these partners through your time, money and effort - please take a look to find how you can do more.

Being the mayor of my hometown is the greatest honor of my life – every day I’m thankful to all of you for the opportunity to help make Boise even better. There is no city in the world with better people. And in my opinion, there is no better city in the world than Boise, Idaho.

Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving!
