The Office of Police Accountability (OPA) reflects city’s commitment to proactive, empowered, transparent, and community-driven oversight, fostering trust and accountability between the community and law enforcement.

Using the OPA forms below, you can file a complaint, submit a compliment about an officer, file an appeal, leave a public comment, or request a meeting with OPA. These forms serve as a direct and accessible way for community members to engage with OPA and ensure their voices are heard.

File a Complaint

The Office of Police Accountability (OPA) will open a case when a complaint alleges conduct by a Boise Police Department (BPD) officer or employee that, if proven true, would violate federal or state law or BPD policy.

File an Appeal

If you are not satisfied with the results of an investigation conducted by the Boise Police Department, you can file an appeal with the Office of Police Accountability (OPA) within 30 days of receiving their response.

Compliment an Officer

OPA opens a case whenever a community member compliments an officer’s actions in a specific incident, and will share these compliments with the officer and the Chief of Police.

Request a Meeting

Community members can request the Office of Police Accountability to meet with their organization to discuss its role, processes, and community oversight efforts.
