What's New

Boise Parks and Recreation is excited to offer a variety of new classes and activities to keep you and your family active and engaged this summer.

Leadership Improv

Ages 8-12

Have fun using improvisational basics to act out different scenarios while learning fundamental leadership. Improv helps build creativity, confidence, decision making, communication and trust in teamwork.

Dates: May 31-June 28 or July 12-August 9

Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Dick Eardley Senior Center

Cost: $29.75 Boise residents; $45.55 for non-residents

Youth Drop-In Basketball and Volleyball

Ages: 9-17

Calling all youth basketball or volleyball players! Improve your skills this summer. Our net and gym is open for you! Parents must sign waiver for the summer and provide emergency contact information before youth are allowed access, but no other registration is necessary.

Guardian presence is required on-site for youth under the age of 12.

Dates: June 2-August 11

Basketball is Tuesday/Thursdays from 1-2 p.m.
Volleyball is Monday/Wednesday from 1-2:30 p.m.

Both at Fort Boise Community Center.

Cost: $3/day

Sailing Camp-Racing/Advanced

Ages: 12-17

Racing Camp is for graduates of the Intermediate Sailing Course, have comparable certificate of course completion or demonstrate comparable sailing experience. Sailors attending race camp will continue to expand their skills on the water in addition to learning basic racing tactics including starts, mark rounding, right-of-way rules and boat speed techniques. Short course racing, distance racing and games will allow each student to advance skills with healthy competition and fun as a top priority. In addition, different boat types will be examined and discussed as well as post-graduation sailboat racing options in Idaho.

Date: July 25 from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Cost: $301 for Boise residents; $455 for non-residents

Out and About Camp - Act it Out!

Ages: 12-15

Boise Parks and Recreation is partnering with Readers Theater Works! to offer a fun high-energy camp that will engage kids in reading and acting. Every morning, teens will play theater games, rehearse a ten-minute mystery play, analyze text, and learn acting and reading skills. On the last day of camp, teens will perform the mystery play. No experience or memory required. Each day after theater time, teens will go “out and about” to explore the fun Boise has to offer – bowling, swimming, hiking, skating, eating and more!

Dates: July 11-15

Camp is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Fort Boise Community and South Junior High School Ampitheater

Cost: $175 for Boise residents; $249 for non-residents

Summer Camps

Please note, registration for summer Playcamps opens in December each year.

Swimming Lessons

Swimming lessons will be offered at four Boise outdoor pools this summer – Borah Pool, Fairmont Pool, Ivywild Pool and the Natatorium. Our popular Summer Recreational Swim Team is also back for youth and teens.

Adaptive Recreation

Boise Parks and Recreation’s AdVenture program provides a wide range of programs for youth and adults with disabilities. One-day activities include bike rides, dinner and a movie and a foothills hike and dinner.
