Adopt A Tree, Adopt A Bench Programs

We are proud to offer the community the opportunity to honor important people, dates, organizations or events on Boise Parks and Recreation property. The department has a wide range of site amenities or facilities for you to choose from for the Adopt a Tree and Adopt a Bench opportunities. These are established and maintained in accordance with the Boise Parks and Recreation Memorial Policy.

Site Selection

Choose from numerous available locations to display your special message.

Renewable Terms

Tree and bench adoptions are for a 20-year renewable term and will receive maintenance consistent with our Department standards, for the term of adoption. Once the 20-year term expires, you will have the opportunity to pay to extend the adoption term for another 20 years.

Personalized Plaque

Plaque text must be consistent with Boise Parks and Recreation’s Memorial Policy. An extensive list of sentiments, that work well with our tree and bench plaques, have been compiled and will be provided to you.

Tree adoptions include a granite plaque in a concrete border, with a color option of black, paradiso or gray.

Metal bench adoptions include a bronze plaque.

Stone bench adoptions include a granite plaque with a color option of black, paradiso or gray.

Adopt a Tree

This popular program, established by our Community Forestry Unit, is a special way to observe important people, dates, and events in your life. Trees that have been established for at least two years are eligible for adoption.

The cost to adopt a tree is based upon the size of the tree and location:

Neighborhood Parks

  • 10 to 20-inch diameter = $515.00
  • Over 20-inch diameter = $1,030.00

Premier Parks

  • 10 to 20-inch diameter = $1,030.00
  • Over 20-inch diameter = $2,060.00

Tree adoptions are not available in Bethine Church Trail, Camel's Back Park, C.W. Moore Park, Cecil D. Andrus Capitol Park, Charles F. McDevitt Youth Sports Complex, Fairmont Park/Pool, Greenbelt, Hillside Park, Kathryn Albertson Park, Marianne Williams Park, Molenaar Park, Morris Hill Park, Rhodes Park, Simplot Sports Complexes, Veterans Memorial Park or within any city-owned cemetery.

Adopt a Bench

Our memorial bench program has a variety of opportunities for you to recognize important people, dates, and events in your life. We offer two bench styles; standard powder metal benches and stone benches. Stone benches are only offered in select areas.
The type of bench available at each location is determined by the Boise Parks and Recreation Department. We will discuss site options in your park of interest. Proposals are welcome and will be evaluated based on feasibility.
The cost to adopt a bench is based upon the type of bench and its' location:

Neighborhood Parks

Metal Benches = $1,500.00
Stone Benches = $2,500.00

Premier Parks

Metal / Stone Benches = $2,500.00

Bench adoptions are not available in the Boise Depot/Platt Gardens, Cecil D. Andrus Capitol Park, Fairmont Park/Pool, Hillside Park, Kathryn Albertson Park, Kristin Armstrong Municipal Park, Simplot Sports Complex, Veterans Memorial Park or within any city-owned cemetery.
Only existing benches may be adopted in Esther Simplot Park.
