The Boise City Council approved $100,000 in Open Space and Clean Water levy funds to be used to complete design work for an essential Boise River Greenbelt connection under the Eckert Road Bridge, providing a direct link between Alta Harris Park to the Dallas Harris Memorial Trail and Golda Harris Nature Preserve. The underpass would improve community access to open space and recreational opportunities for residents while strengthening commuter pathways.
Ada County Highway District (ACHD) is planning a full reconstruction of the Eckert Road Bridge and intersection beginning in the fall of 2026. The bridge project and Greenbelt underpass connection, if constructed, will make travel safer and easier with continuous, and comfortable access for pedestrians and cyclists. City of Boise staff members continue to work closely with project partners to promote the importance of pedestrian and cyclist safety and connectivity throughout the planning process for the new Eckert Road Bridge and intersection.
