Renovations and Repairs Coming This Summer/Fall

A series of renovations and repairs are planned this summer and fall at the historic Boise Depot. Work is estimated to begin on Monday, July 14 and continue through October 2025. During this time, the Boise Depot will be closed to the public.

The scope of work includes:

  • Structural repair and stucco work on the west end of the building. This will include the removal of the stucco, repair of the brick behind it as needed and the installation of new stucco. During this time, windows and doors will be removed from the Boise Depot so existing layers of paint can be removed and repairs made for reinstallation.
  • The second phase of structural repairs in the basement.
  • Coordination with the Boise Fire Department to replace or repair the existing fire line.
  • An assessment of the original artwork in the building.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as the City of Boise works to carefully repair and renovate the Boise Depot so it can continue to be enjoyed for years to come.

The Boise Depot is a beautiful historic Spanish-style structure operated by the Boise Parks and Recreation Department as a public ceremonial or meeting space and historic site, and is home to the famous Platt Gardens. Designed by New York architects, the building opened in 1925 to elaborate fanfare in the capital city.
