The Art Center is a state-of-the-art facility offering quality art instruction for youth, teen and adults at an affordable price.

Effective July 28, 2021, face coverings are required at all City indoor facilities for ages 2 and over.
Pottery Lab Times

January 10-March 6

Mondays: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Tuesdays: 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Wednesdays: 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Thursdays: 8 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Fridays: See Weekly Eventbrite schedule
Saturdays: 12:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Sundays: 10 a.m. –  9 p.m.

Please make your online reservation prior to attending and do not show up early or leave late.

Students may arrive up to 30 minutes early for their class without an Eventbrite reservation.

Open Studio

Open studio time is included when you enroll in an art class. Come as much as you want at no additional charge.

Daily drop-in rates of $11.25 for pottery and $2 for drawing/painting (payable upon arrival at Fort Boise) is available for those who are not enrolled in a class.

Located in Fort Boise Community Center, the 4,500-square-foot Art Center encompasses three studio spaces. More than 200 different classes are offered each year for children age 2 1/2 to seniors.

Professional instructors teach classes in a wide variety of art mediums, including:

  • Drawing
  • Painting
  • Clay
  • Sculpture
  • Multi-media

The Art Center encourages opportunities for people with disabilities by providing accommodations or specialized classes such as Access to the Arts offered by the Boise Parks and Recreation Department's AdVenture program.

Self-concept is positively enhanced through the arts, as are language acquisition, cognitive development, critical thinking ability and social skills.  Visit Online Registration for a list of current classes.

Public Art

This community mural at the entrance of the Art center illustrates the high level of skill and dedication by staff and art instructors. Artists statement: "Congratulations to Molly C., Molly H., Mike, CeCe, Nancy, Janie, Amber, Jereme, Allison, Jean and Anna. If not for these students' hard work, team effort and willingness to learn, this workshop could have never worked. A huge thank you to Alton Dean for fabricating and donating the beautiful stainless steel frames."

Smoking Prohibition

Smoking is prohibited in all public parks, including within 20 feet of the Boise Greenbelt, except in designated areas within Ann Morrison and Julia Davis parks and city-owned golf courses.

NOTE: E-cigarettes are not prohibited under the ordinances.
