The day shelter offers a variety of educational opportunities including art and recreation activities for families. The Pioneer Center has computers, books, games, art supplies and a large collection of toys. Lunch is provided during the winter months when the shelter is open.   

All alcoholic beverages including beer and wine are prohibited at this location.

December - March: Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

(Opens July 13) Summer: Saturday and Sunday, 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.

About Pioneer Neighborhood Community Center

The Pioneer Community Center is a day shelter for families with children up to age 17 experiencing homelessness during the winter months and in the summer during heat waves. Families must be referred from local shelters, school districts or Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.  

While the City of Boise’s Pioneer Day Shelter will only be open on weekends, Interfaith Sanctuary now provides a program for families experiencing homelessness during the week.

Smoking Prohibition

Smoking is prohibited in all public parks, including within 20 feet of the Boise Greenbelt, except in designated areas within Ann Morrison and Julia Davis parks and city-owned golf courses.

NOTE: E-cigarettes are not prohibited under the ordinances.
