Nature Guide for Boise's Parks

The Nature Guide for Boise Parks is offered through Boise Parks and Recreation's Community Education program, which is dedicated to providing citizens the opportunity to learn about our unique local environment and ways to live sustainably within it.

Most of the included photographs were taken at parks, reserves or other facilities managed by the Boise Parks and Recreation Department. Thank you to these Boise photographers for donating their time and pictures:

  • Daniel Gonzalez - Along with being a photographer, Daniel volunteers for the Greenbelt Patrol and serves as a Park Ambassador for Kathryn Albertson Park.
  • Bob Ellis - A master naturalist and avid traveler, Bob’s photography documents the locations and wildlife that he encounters. A retired Boise State chemistry professor, he has contributed photographs to the Foothills Learning Center projects, including an upcoming natural history book for young people.
  • Bill Grange - For over 50 years, Bill has taken photographs throughout Idaho. He has donated hundreds of photographs to the City of Boise, including the Parks and Recreation Department and the Boise WaterShed.

Also, thank you to these scientists for providing their expertise and content direction:

  • David S. Pilliod, Research Ecologist, U.S. Geological Survey
  • Victoria Runnoe, Conservation Education Supervisor, Idaho Department of Fish and Game
  • Ross Winton, Regional Wildlife Biologist, Idaho Department of Fish and Game
  • Writers and editors of Idaho Fish and Game’s Wildlife Express newspaper.
