Linear Park and Pathway at West Goddard Road

Boise Parks and Recreation is in the planning phase of 3-acre linear park and pathway along West Goddard Road. The property, which is adjacent to Settlers Canal and across the street from Capital High School, was donated to the City of Boise by the Settlers Irrigation District in July 2022.

The linear park and pathway master plan design was developed based on stakeholder initiative and community feedback. The master plan was approved by the Boise Parks and Recreation Commission on January 19, 2023. The master plan has also been approved by partner agencies. Design elements include a shaded transit stop with a public art element, pollinator plantings with native shrubs and perennials, 10-foot-wide accessible multi-use pathway, shade pavilion with seating, and raised seat walls.

Next Steps

Bid documents for this project opened on November 22, 2023. The project has been awarded to Compliance Solutions & Contracting LLC. The project application was submitted and approved for funding by the Open Space and Clean Water Advisory Committee at the committee's December 6, 2023 meeting.

At the December 12, 2023 evening meeting, Boise City Council approved levy funding for the project in the amount of $2,063,718. The improvement project will provide critical open space, native habitat, pathways and augments community partnerships.

Construction has begun. Fencing will be installed around the site and equipment will be staged on the property.

The yet-to-be-named park is expected to be completed in Fall 2024.

Project completion estimates are subject to change due to volatility in the construction industry. Current challenges include material availability, rising costs, supply chain disruptions, staffing shortages and more. Boise Parks and Recreation will update project timelines as needed if delays occur.
