Boise Parks and Recreation is replacing and improving three sections of the Boise River Greenbelt in 2025. These sections of pathway were selected as high priority for replacement due to current poor conditions. Some of the paths are cracked, others have damage due to roots or degrading subgrade. The existing asphalt paths will be replaced with concrete, creating a smooth surface. Concrete lasts much longer than asphalt and is less susceptible to tree root damage. All of the existing benches, trash cans and bollards will also be updated.
The department’s priority is to continue to repair and or replace sections of this critical pathway on an annual basis, as funding allows.
As a department, we realize the Greenbelt is heavily used as a transportation corridor and for recreational purposes. Our team will be making every effort to work with contractors to complete these projects efficiently. Detours will be established and signed for all projects, and we will update our website to provide information throughout construction.
Work on the first section of path began on Tuesday, May 27 and projects will continue on a rolling basis into the fall. The projects will occur one phase at a time. The contractor on this project is Clearwater Landscape.
We apologize for this temporary inconvenience but in the long run, we are confident this work will improve the longevity of the path and create a better user experience for everyone.
Projects on the North side of the Boise River include:
- Julia Davis Park pathway (NE 0.3 to NE 0.4) (Started May 27)
- Marianne Williams Park pathway (NE 4.6 to NE 4.9) (Start date estimated to be June 23)
- Warm Springs Park pathway (NE 2.3 to NE 2.5) (Start date estimated to be June 23)
