Project Background: Since Cherie Buckner-Webb Park opened in August 2021, the site has experienced challenges related to the health and long-term sustainability of the grass. Following several attempts to retrofit the irrigation and plant new sod at the park, Boise Parks and Recreation is moving forward with plans to replace the grass with turf. The material is similar to the turf installed on the plaza at Boise City Hall. The goal is to provide a safe and accessible surface for recreation at this popular downtown park, while minimizing costly and time-consuming maintenance needs.
Timeline: Construction is expected to start March 31 with the goal of the turf replacement wrapping up by the end of May.
Park Impacts: The grass and Gentle Breeze artwork will be fenced off for the duration of the project. Access will be maintained for park visitors to use the tables, chairs and restroom on site.
