Hillside to Hollow Trailhead Construction

Construction to begin the week of October 26 on the Hillside to Hollow Reserve Trailhead. In anticipation of the start date, users will start seeing construction vehicles and fencing being installed the week of October 19.

The trailhead is the result of many years of effort and partnership between the City of Boise, the Land Trust of the Treasure Valley, Healthwise Inc. and nearby neighborhood associations. We are pleased to provide permanent public access at one of our city’s most popular reserves.

Construction of the trailhead will include a bathroom, drinking fountain and dog watering station, bike racks, ADA accessible parking and 25 parking spaces for trail and reserve users. Landscaping will be improved and some invasive and dying trees will be replaced to improve long-term health of the site.

Trail users will be able to access the reserve and nearby trails during construction, but please stay out of closed areas for your own safety.

There will be a couple of trail closures to Harrison Ridge and Harrison Hollow. Users can use Hippie Shake to detour around the construction zone. See map below.

To avoid the construction, there are also other access points to the reserve at Hillside Park, Hillside Junior High and Ussery Street (limited parking).

Construction of the new trailhead is expected to continue through the winter and into the spring of 2021.
