Liberty Park Improvements

Liberty Park is a 9-acre neighborhood park located off Emerald Street on the Central Bench, and Boise Parks and Recreation is excited to invest in improvements at the park in the near future. Improvements to the park include replacing the existing playground, which is the oldest in the department’s inventory, with new equipment featuring accessible elements and surfacing. Impact fees, which are collected based on growth and development in the area, will fund new site amenities such as nature play features, landscaping, park seating and more. A new permanent restroom will also be included in the park improvements.

These improvements will create a more inclusive and welcoming experience at the park, which is within a 10-minute walk of 1,090 residents. The budget for the park improvements is nearly $1.43 million in impact fees and capital dollars and was approved by the Boise City Council as part of the city’s 2026 fiscal year budget.

Master Plan Update

As part of these park improvements, the department has updated the Liberty Park Master Plan to reflect the current layout of the park and the planned new amenities. Department staff presented these updates at the April 16, 2026 Boise Parks and Recreation Commission meeting. To watch this presentation, start at the 13-minute mark on this recording.
