Settlers Canal Path

8350 W Goddard Rd., Boise

The unique park property runs along Settlers Canal and sits across the street from Capital High School. The three-acre parcel was donated to the City of Boise by the Settlers Irrigation District in July 2022. Mayor Lauren McLean announced at her 2025 State of the City address that the park will be named “Settlers Canal Path” in honor of this partnership, and to highlight the important community pathway and opportunities for connection it creates.

The park master plan design was developed based on stakeholder initiative and community feedback. It was approved by the Boise Parks and Recreation Commission on January 19, 2023, and received support from project partners. Park design elements for the Settlers Canal Path site include pollinator plantings with native shrubs and perennials, a 10-foot-wide accessible multi-use pathway, a shade pavilion with seating, garden walkways and lighting, and raised seat walls.

Development of the park was made possible due to funding from the city’s Open Space and Clean Water Levy.
