Winstead Park is a popular 11 acre park located on the Boise Bench. Park amenities include open play areas used by sports teams, a reservable covered shelter, walking path, playground and tennis courts.

Parking

There is a small parking lot available at the park.

Restrooms

Restrooms are now closed and park drinking fountains are turned off for the winter.

Portable restrooms are provided throughout the winter.

Reservations

Winstead Park has a covered picnic shelter which may be reserved. Reservations can be made 11 months in advance at the first of each month for this park.

Dog Off-Leash

Dogs and their owners should be sure to follow the city's leash ordinance going to and coming from the dog park, and follow the dog off-leash rules and regulations while visiting the park. Learn more.

All areas within Winstead Park, with the exception of the tennis courts, playground, shelter, and parking lot, are available for hourly dog off-leash use. There are signs with maps identifying the approved area installed at the park for user reference.

  • June 1 - August 31, Sunrise to 8:00 a.m.
  • September 1 - May 31, Sunrise to 10:00 a.m.
  • November 1 - February 1, 3:00 p.m. to Sunset.

Dogs must be on a leash at all other times during the day.

Open Play Areas

Open play areas are cut grass spaces that provide opportunities for healthy recreational activities for people of all ages.

Playground

There is a playground area with a swing set that is great for kids ages 2-12. The playground surface is wood chips.

Sports Fields

The Boise Parks and Recreation Department offers sports fields that can be reserved for sports clinics, camps, tournaments and league games at this location.

For other activities including practices or scrimmages, sports fields can be used by simply dropping in first come, first served.

Tennis

Tennis courts may be reserved by contacting Boise Parks and Recreation at (208) 608-7680.

One court must be open for public use at all times.

Smoking Prohibition

Smoking and vaping are prohibited in all public parks, including within 20 feet of the Boise Greenbelt, except in designated areas within Ann Morrison and Julia Davis parks and city-owned golf courses.

The park property was purchased by the City of Boise in 1965.
