Green Building Code

What is the Green Building Code?

The Green Building Code provides a roadmap for builders and developers interested in incorporating sustainable, energy efficient components into their buildings beyond the minimum requirements of the current code.

The city adopted the International Green Construction Code (IGCC) to provide an alternative, more affordable option for projects wanting to be designed and verified as green.

Whether it's the IGCC or LEED Platinum, there are several options for developments to be considered a green building by the City of Boise.

Sustainability and building vibrant communities is at the core of who we are as a city; recognizing and supporting Green Building projects is one more way we are redefining how we continue to develop our city. By providing a guide for developments focused on energy efficiency, environmentally-friendly materials and conservation, builders and developers interested in going green will not only be a part of the city's commitment to sustainability, but will also receive planning and development initiatives and project recognition.
