Tuttle-Spaulding Pathway

Background

The City of Boise’s Pathway Program is working with Boise Parks and Recreation to expand access to Capital High School, Milwaukee Park, Spaulding Ranch, and other nearby schools with the new Tuttle-Spaulding Pathway. This pathway will provide a safe and accessible bicycle and pedestrian connection for users of all ages and abilities, knitting together Boise’s West Bench neighborhoods.

The pathway will connect Cole Road to Milwaukee Street near Capital High School, running along the Tuttle Lateral within the Spaulding Ranch site and north of Milwaukee Park.

Project Impact

The Tuttle-Spaulding Pathway is identified as a near-term opportunity in the Boise Pathway Master Plan and has long been a priority for the city, school district, and nearby Neighborhood Associations. The project’s benefits include:

  • Creating safe and comfortable connections to the three schools, four parks, and seven bus stops within a mile, and adding a new safe route to schools.
  • Providing new pathway access for 2,900 nearby neighbors and 600 students.
  • Supporting connections to other nearby pathway projects, including the recently completed Settlers Canal Path and ACHD’s planned pedestrian improvements on Glenwood Street and Mountain View Drive.
  • Expanding ADA-accessible connectivity.
  • Providing comfortable and enjoyable routes for recreation and commuting away from traffic.

Partnerships

The project is made possible by partnerships with nearby property owners, the Boise School District, the Boise Parks and Recreation Department, Boise Little League, and the Nampa Meridian Irrigation District. This project ties into the ongoing improvements at the Spaulding Ranch Park site.
